I have a sedentary job and I don't move very well, will yoga be good for me?
Yes. Yoga not only works on lengthening the muscles that support the joints, but it helps to stimulate your fascia, or connective tissue. The more you stretch your connective tissue, the more pliable and flexible you will become. It is even more important that you practice yoga and flexibility if you are not moving around much during the day.
I am in my 60's, is it too late for me to start to practice yoga?
No. You can begin your yoga journey at any age. It is never too late. As we get older, our joints and muscles get stiffer making it more challenging to move and do everyday chores. In fact, it is quite recommended to incorporate yoga, or some sort of stretching, and mindful breathing into your day to keep the body healthy and active.
I had a hip replacement 3 years ago, can I still practice yoga?
Yes, as long as you have the approval form your doctor and there are no underlying issues from your surgery. Most people with hip replacements enjoy my yoga sessions, because they say they have better range of motion and their doctors tell them to continue to move their hips to avoid the build up of scar tissue. In fact, many students mention that they have better range of motion after practicing yoga for a few weeks.
